Dance troupe wins awards

McAfee — Ziegler Dance Centre’s Z Dance Troupe recently performed at the Star Quest Regional Dance Competition in Hackensack, where they earned the highest recognition for many dances performed in ballet, lyrical, contemporary, hip hop, jazz, tap, musical theatre and acrobatics. Many dances placed in top overall positions including “Respect,” a junior jazz duet that was awarded 3rd overall and “Gitchee Gitchee Goo,” a petite jazz trio that received 3rd overall. Ziegler’s petite ballet group “La Plus Belle Pour Aller Dancer” received 4th overall and “Workin’ On the Chain Gang” tapped their way into 3rd overall for petite small groups. The petite hip hop group “Let it Go” received 2nd overall, while “Gotta Lotta” pumped it up to take home first overall for large groups. “We Run This,” the junior hip hop group, popped to 4th overall for large groups. The production of “Shrek” was awarded 5th overall. Richard Baxter performed “Fever” to heat up the stage and take 1st overall for the adult division.
