Crystal Springs puts three courses in NJ Monthly's top 20
Hardyston-New Jersey Monthly magazine's annual ranking of the state's top golf courses named Ballyowen the best public course in New Jersey. Two other courses owned by Crystal Springs Golf Resort, Wild Turkey and Crystal Springs finished eighth and twentieth respectively. "Ballyowen features wide open fairways, spectacular views, and a wee taste of British heathland golf," wrote the magazine in naming the course tops in the state. Ballyown was also named "Best in State" this year by Zagat Survey, which also ranked the track fifteenth on it's list of the 50 most popular courses in the United States. Zagat's comments on the course were: "Extraordinary to perfection. Immaculate conditions." Golf Guides USA named Ballyowen third in its rankings of the top 30 public courses in the New York Metropolitan Area. In 2003, Ballyowen was ranked first in the state by Golfweek, Pub Links Golfer Magazine and Zagat. In previous years, it has also won an Environmental Steward Award from the Golf Course Superintendents Association of America and was named to the Best of Environmental Golf List by Audubon International. Crystal Springs, the first of the five courses built by the resort, was ranked twentieth by New Jersey Monthly this year and fourth in the metropolitan area by Golf Guides USA. Wild Turkey, the newest addition to the Crystal Springs family, was eighth in New Jersey Monthly, twelfth in the metropolitan area in Golf Guides USA, and is listed by the Executive Women's Golf Association's among the top six women-friendly courses in New Jersey.
