Hamburg. Crystal Springs Resort in Hamburg is poised to record its best summer ever, which it attributes to sweeping upgrades at its AAA four-diamond Grand Cascades Lodge as well as a shift in travel behavior resulting from the COVID-19 pandemic. “We’re thrilled at the heightened interest we experienced for our summer stays,” said Chris Mulvihill, chief marketing officer. “The scenario of having the opportunity to renovate and approach sell-out every day in a safe and responsible environment was very encouraging to our bottom line. Ironically, the COVID-19 challenge actually increased our hotel demand given our proximity as the closest high-end resort to the world’s largest luxury feeder market.” The hotel’s makeover debut coincided with its reopening after closure due to the coronavirus. The resort actually limited occupancy at both Grand Cascades Lodge and its sister property, Minerals Hotel, to allow for mandated social distancing. It had the effect of providing a better experience to the customer, Mulvihill said.
