Benz moves law office to Newton

Lawyer Elenora “Ellie” L. Benz has moved her office to The Wharf, 31 Newton Sparta Road, Suite E, Newton, effective immediately.

Her practice focuses solely on estate planning, wills, trusts and the administration of decedents’ estates.

The Wharf, overlooking Drake’s Pond, is a handicapped-accessible, elevator building with ample off-street parking.

Benz, who has been actively practicing in Sussex County since 1999, welcomes new clients by referral only.

She graduated from New York Law School and practiced in New York City at Cadwalader, Wickersham & Taft before moving back to New Jersey to focus on estate planning.

She is originally from Morris County and now lives with her husband and children on a farm in Stillwater.

She is a past chairwoman of the Sussex County Chamber of Commerce, past president and a continuing member of the Branchville Rotary Club, and a former member of the Newton Medical Center Bio-Ethics Committee.

She also performs with Watergap Singers.

Benz has been honored by the Sussex County Chamber of Commerce, Soroptimists International and the Nnew Jersey Women Business Owners.

She is well known in the Sussex County area for her Earth Angels community outreach program, now being managed by Project Self Sufficiency, and the Senior Quality of Life Foundation.

She lobbied successfully for the passage in 2001 of the New Jersey statute that enables trusts for domesticated animals.

She was chairwoman of the District XA Attorney Ethics Committee (Sussex and Morris counties) and is currently a member of the Supreme Court Committee on Character and its Statewide Panel.
