Boy Scouts check out the nation's capitol

Vernon Boy Scout Troop 912 visited Washington, D.C., during their recent spring break and had a chance to stroll through the museums, where they compared the scenes of the popular movie “Night in the Museum: Battle of the Smithsonian” to the locations some of the movie was filmed. They also took the city’s “monument walk” and learned about the memorials to U.S. service men and women, including the World War II Memorial and the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Wall, as well as the monuments to Washington, Lincoln, Jefferson and Roosevelt, to name just a few. The troop tries to take one such history themed trip each year to balance the hikes and camping trips they take each month. For more information about Troop 912, contact troop912@embarqmail.com.
