Board earns safety incentive award
Vernon Vernon Township School District was acknowledged by the School Alliance Insurance Fund for qualifying for the 2007-2008 Safety Incentive Program Award. By successfully completing the requirements of the program, the district was credited $15,500 toward the 2008-2009 fund year workers’ compensation assessment. According to a press release announcing the award, the district has saved more than $63,000 over the past five school years by consistently qualifying for the award. In a related issue, the board notes that in its continued efforts to keep budget increases to a minimum, Vernon School Board has applied for funding under the NJ Cleaner Energy Program, which funds up to 100-percent of an energy audit and recommends energy saving methods.
