Beware use of the ‘Golden Rule'

Back in November 2008, the NJ Dept. of Community Affairs (DCA) issued a 44-page report “Fiscal Aspects of Consolidating Sussex Borough and Wantage Township” to the Joint Municipal Consolidation Study Commission of Sussex Borough and Wantge Township for use in their deliberations. I did a very intensive review of he DCA’s report and on Dec. 27, 2008, I publicly released my finding that I believe I had proven beyond any doubt that the DCA’s report is factually fatally flawed and therefore must be rejected by the Consolidation Study Commission. For anyone who is interested, I left a marked-up copy of the DCA’s report at the Sussex-Wantage Library. Any questions, please feel free to call me. It is now almost seven weeks later and no one, not even the DCA, has come forward with any calculation and/or facts to even attempt to prove me wrong. At the Commission meeting on Feb. 4, in reply to my comments, the DCA’s consultant Jack Doyle stated that the DCA might release a revised report by the end of February. I then stated that if the DCA had to issue a revised report, they had just proven me to be correct. At the Commission meeting on Feb. 11, I again requested that the Commission reject the DCA’s flawed report. My time would have been better spent if I had gone outside and talked to a brick wall. Please remember: the DCA is funding this consolidation study. What’s the Golden Rule? He who has the gold rules! It is my personal opinion that unless the Consolidation Study Commission rejects this factually fatally flawed DCA report, any finding and/or decision that his commission comes to will be tainted by the factually fatally flawed DCA report.
