Battling to learn

Union forces, clad in blue and carrying water balloons, repeatedly charged Gray positions last Thursday in the Battle of Vernon High School Lacrosse Field. The "battle," preceded by a lunch of hard tack and stew cooked over a wood fire, was all part of a day of hands-on learning about American history. The Blue won the battle, their victory the result, as it was during the real war, of superior numbers.
