Applications available for Vernon's pre-school

The Vernon Township School District will be offering a tuition-based inclusive general education preschool program for 3- and 4-year-olds at Walnut Ridge Primary School for the 2010-11 school year. This program will run Monday through Friday for the entire school year, beginning on Sept. 7, 2010. The two hour and 25 minute sessions will be offered in either the morning from 9:10 a.m. until 11:35 a.m., or in the afternoon from 1 to 3:25 p.m. Placement in either the morning or afternoon sessions will be chosen by lottery, Tuition for the general education preschool students will be $300 per month for 10 months. Because there are a limited number of seats available for next year’s preschool program, the district will randomly draw applications, if needed. Applicants who are not selected will be placed on a waiting list. Registration began Monday, March 1 and will continue through Friday, March 19. To apply, call 973-764-2935 or pick up an application at the Office of Special Services, 293 Route 94, Vernon during the week of March 1. Applications received after Friday, March 19 will not be considered. To be eligible for this general education preschool program, a student must be toilet-trained and must be 3 years old by Oct. 1, 2010. A birth certificate and proof of residency will be required of those applying and must be included with the application.
