Agency hosts holiday toy drive on behalf of low-income families
Sussex County Each December, Project Self-Sufficiency creates a holiday toy shop for needy families in Sussex, Warren and Morris counties, allowing them to choose gifts for their children free of charge. Gifts for infants through teenagers will be gratefully accepted at the agency, located at 127 Mill St. in Newton. Items should be new and unwrapped. The agency has assembled a wish list for those who want to contribute, but may be unsure of what to donate. Items needed for teens include electronics, such as MP3 players, calculators, watches, computer games and software, popular CDs; make-up, perfume, scented lotions, hair dryers, curling irons; jewelry and accessories; sports equipment and team gear, such as T-shirts, sweatshirts, and hats; popular books; clothing and pajamas; backpacks. Items sought for younger children include books; legos, blocks and k’nex toys; action figures; DVD’s and CDs; Leap Pad learning games; multicultural dolls and toys; Play Doh; trading and collectible cards; matchbox cars. In addition, donation of wrapping paper, gift bags, gift boxes and stocking stuffers are welcome. Donations are requested by Dec. 7 in order to allow ample time for families to take advantage of the toy shop.
