A look into outer space

Erik Dambach, a PhD candidate in rocket propulsion at Purdue University and the son of second-grade teacher Ellen Dambach, a Rolling Hills School teacher, visited Rolling Hills School on Nov. 25 to give a special presentation about space travel in the past, present and in the future to two second-grade classes. The students were in awe listening to him talk, watching his space video clips and seeing space photos. Dambach presented information about the space race between the early cosmonauts and the early astronauts and told of the landing on the moon. He showed pictures of the space shuttles, talked about dangers of space travel and the XPrize. The children particularly enjoyed watching students experiencing zero gravity. In his talk, Dambach emphasized how the students of today may be the space engineers of the future.
