SPARTA — Jamie Lospinoso, a photography student at Sussex County Community College, is a finalist in the 29th Annual Student Photography Contest sponsored by Nikon, USA. More than 4,000 students participated from the United States, Canada and around the world. Judges for this year’s contest were photography instructors Rob Winner, Brooks Institute of Photography; Peter Glendinning, Michigan State University; and Karen Sinsheimer, curator of photography, Santa Barbara Museum of Art. Images awarded first through fourth place will be published in the May/summer 2009 issue of Photographer’s Forum magazine. Lospinoso, of Sparta, has a B.S. in economics and is studying photography at SCCC. Once receiving his associates’ degree from SCCC, Lospinoso hopes to pursue a graduate degree in business and eventually work in the field of photography or art. Joseph Guerriero, adjunct faculty at SCCC, had nothing but praise of Lospinoso’s work. “With Jamie’s photographic vision and talent, I’m not surprised he was recognized for his work,” said Guerriero. “Jamie understands the medium and has a natural sense of composition, content, and light, essential components of successful photographic work.”
