Sgt. Ron Casteel of the Sparta Police retired last week after 25 years of service. Casteel said he has enjoyed his years in Sparta working with what he called an outstanding police force. Next on the agenda for Casteel will be a six-day, 198-mile rafting trip through the Grand Canyon with his wife. After that, Casteel said he plans to stay busy, possibly taking on a new career challenge.
