    Sherman C. Ellett, 93, passed away on Sunday, Jan. 21, 2018. peacefully at the home of his niece and her husband. He was born over the mountain (Layton) to Henry and Ada Morgan Ellett. He was the youngest of 8 siblings, Henry, Mary DeGroat Vandenheuvel, Mildred Trube, Leo, Mable, Maude Losey, and Cora Jackson and the last one surviving.
    He served in the U.S. Army in Germany during WWII. He worked for many years in Local 913, the Laborers Union and retired in 1987. In his younger days he was an avid hunter and “dog man”. Raising and selling coon dogs and fox terriers.
    He was predeceased by his wife of 49 years Charlotte (Johnson) in 1995.
    Sherman is survived by nieces and nephews up to 5 generations.
