    Lewis Ramirez, 72 years old, died unexpectedly at University Medical Center, El Paso, Texas, on Sunday, May 11, 2014. Born to the late Pilar and Josephine Ramirez in Greenville, N.Y., he has resided in Ogdensburg, N.J., for many years.

    Lewis served with the United States Air Force from 1960-64 and had worked at the Hercules Black Powder Company in Kenvil, N.J., and also served as a firefighter for Picatinny Arsenal Fire Department in Wharton, N.J. He owned and operated LR Paving Company in Ogdensburg, N.J., from 1975 until 2010. Lewis was an Exempt Member and Former Chief of the Ogdensburg Fire Department, he was a member of the Sgt. Francis M. Glynn American Legion Post # 132, Franklin, N.J., and a parishioner of St. Thomas of Aquin RC Church, Ogdensburg, N.J.

    Lewis was predeceased by a son, John Sullivan (1989), a grandson, Grayson, a sister, Yolanda Ramirez and his parents, Josephine and Pilar Ramirez and was the devoted father of Louis Ramirez of Rolla, Missouri, Richard Sullivan and his wife, Kelly of Sandyston Twp., N.J, Mary Sullivan of Hamburg, N.J., and Eileen Sullivan of Punta Gorda, Fla.; dear brother of Armando Ramirez of Dover, N.J., Irene Centenaro of Newton, N.J., Robert F. Ramirez of Wichita, Kan., Irma Ramirez of Dover, N.J., and Raul Ramirez of Ogdensburg, N.J.; loving grandfather of Rodney, Blare, Brady, Emily, C.J., Louis, Blaine, Maximus and Brody; cherished by Aunt Soledad of Dallas, Texas, and Uncle Ernesto of El Paso, Texas. Also survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins.

    The family will receive their friends at F. John Ramsey Funeral Home, 1 Main Street, Franklin, N.J., on Sunday, May 18, 2014 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral from the funeral home on Monday, May 19, 2014 at 9 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Thomas of Aquin RC Church, Ogdensburg, N.J., at 10 a.m. Interment to follow at St. Thomas Cemetery, Ogdensburg, N.J.
