Joseph M. Marano

Joseph M. Marano, 87, of Hamburg died June 14, 2013 at Barn-Hill Care Center in Newton.
Marano was born in Hoboken, Aug. 12, 1925 and has been a resident of Hamburg for the past 23 years.
Marano was a delivery driver for Wonder Bread of Carlstadt. Upon his retirement he worked as a starter at Great Gorge Golf Club in Vernon. He was a US Navy WW II Veteran serving from 1943 to 1945. He served two terms as a councilman for Hamburg and was active with the Republican Party as well as a former Commissioner of the Sussex County Municipal Utilities Authority (SCMUA).
Marano was a sports official on both the high school and college levels and was an avid NY Yankees and NY Giants fan as well as a Frank Sinatra admirer.
In addition to his parents he was predeceased by two brothers, Anthony and Frank Marano.
He is survived by his wife Selma Marano; children, Frank Marano, Annette Marano, Joseph Marano and Michael Marano; step-son, David Maucieri and his wife Amy; brother, Nicholas Marano; grandchildren, Lori Ann, Jessica, Frank, Matthew and Jesse as well as a great grandson, Elias.
A funeral service will be held Wednesday June 19 at 8:30 p.m. at Ferguson-Vernon Funeral Home, 241 Rt. 94, Vernon. Private cremation will follow with burial of cremains at Glenwood Cemetery, Vernon on Friday June 21 at 11 a.m. Friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 8:30 p.m.
