Entrepreneur and international businessman, Giancarlo Losma, passed away last Friday, April 30, 2021, of Covid-19 in his hometown of Bergamo in Italy.

Giancarlo first visited Sparta, N.J., in 1992 and fell in love with the beauty of the Lake Mohawk area.

The founder of Losma Group, a leading global manufacturer of industrial filtering machinery, Giancarlo liked the area so much that, in 2012, he chose Wilson Drive Business Park in Sparta as the location of the North American Headquarters for Losma Corp. The inauguration event drew much fanfare and was attended by many local government representatives as well as international dignitaries from both the American and Italian governments.

Losma Corp. is still based in Sparta, and all of its local employees can attest that they have always been treated as family members by Mr. Losma. Giancarlo Losma was a true innovator and leader. He was a man of great vision and creativity and was an early believer and strong promoter of green manufacturing years before it became part of the industrial lexicon. He was well-known and respected in the global machine tool industry and president of several manufacturing federations.

His loss is strongly felt in many communities and Sparta in one of them.
