Local resident named top cadet at academy

Walpack Timothy Maglio, of Walpack, and 12 fellow recruits, were honored at the 73rd Basic Police Training Class through the Morris County Public Safety Training Academy, at a ceremony held at the Parsippany facility recently. He entered the academy as an Alternate Route Cadet, attending the academy at his own expense. Maglio, the president of his class, earned the recognition of his fellow recruits and was given the Merit Award. He was also presented with the 200 Club of Morris County award honoring him as the top cadet based on his high performance on his written examination, physical training, and positive attitude. “It is our honor to award Timothy this award,” said Tom Guglielmo, president of the 200 Club. “He is highly respected by his peers and has clearly shown his dedication to his new profession. We are truly lucky to have young men like Timothy protecting us.” The non-profit organization provides financial assistance to the dependents of Morris County Police, firefighters, first aid squad/ambulance corps and State Police of New Jersey who lost their lives in the line of duty.
