Kittatinny's Edward J. Bloustein Distinguished Scholars named

NEWTON Eleven seniors at Kittatinny Regional High School were named Edward J. Bloustein Distinguished Scholars. They are Dominick Vaccaro, Jill Tracey, Gina Orlando, Angela Hoover, and Kelly Ganon, Drew Murray, Zachary Scott, Meghan Hayes, and Steven Zappa, George Chronis and Andrew Webster. The highest achieving students are selected as Edward J. Bloustein Distinguished Scholars according to an established criteria: Class rank of one, two, or three in the graduating class and rank within the top 10 percent of the graduating class at the end of the junior year, or Class rank within the top 10 percent of the graduating class at the end of the junior year with combined critical reading and math SAT scores of 1260 or higher at the end of the junior year. The Distinguished Scholar award of up to $1,000 is available annually without regard to financial need, however, the annual value of the scholarship award is subject to future state appropriations and receipt of other student assistance. The Higher Education Student Assistance Authority (HESAA), an independent agency of the State of New Jersey, administers the Garden State Scholarship Program, which includes the Edward J. Bloustein Distinguished Scholar and Urban Scholar awards. Each year, more than 7,000 students statewide receive scholarships in recognition of their high level of academic achievement. Students may use these awards to continue their education at New Jersey institutions of higher education.
