Newton - The staff at the ShopRite of Newton was honored recently by Wakefern Food Corp. for their “Chain of Survival” efforts recently in delivering life-saving assistance for an elderly shopper who had taken ill while in the store. Store personnel responded immediately to the emergency situation with CPR and the use of the AED (Automated External Defibrillator) in response to the life-threatening emergency. Their efforts sustained life until the emergency rescue squad arrived and transported the patient to Newton Memorial Hospital. Every RoNetco ShopRite supermarket is equipped with an AED (Automated External Defibrillator) and store personnel are trained in CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation) and the proper use of the AED.
