Richard Poplaski was honored by both his school district and West Milford township recently as he achieved the rank of Eagle Scout. For his Eagle Scout project, Poplaski built a stairway in the hill at the Police Athletic League building site. Poplaski admitted it was a “long, hard project,” adding that he never saw such rocks in West Milford like the ones he had to haul away to complete this project. It took 260 man hours and the planning, he said, “was insane.” Poplaski, pictured here with West Milford Mayor Bettina Bieri, has been a scout since second grade. He thanked his family and friends for their support during the project and throughout his scouting career. His future plans including enlisting in the Air Force. “It’s been a long journey,” said Poplaski.
