Sparta residents Gulce Askin and Justin David Laury have been named to dean’s commendation list for the spring 2009 semester at Gettysburg College in Pennsylvania. Sparta residents Chris Milliken and Clare Elizabeth Mountjoy graduated with bachelor’s degree from Marist College in Poughkeepsie, N.Y. Gregory Williamson of Sparta has been named to the dean’s list for the spring 2009 at Northeastern University in Boston. He has also been named to the National Society of Collegiate Scholars. Four area residents have graduated from Deleware Valley College in Doylestown, Pa. They are: Newton resident Jasmine Francisco of Newton, Samantha Bremer of Highland Lakes, Lindsay Cropper of Wantage and Jon Trotta of Vernon. Area students have been named to the dean’s list for the spring 2009 semester at Fairleigh Dickinson University’s College at Florham Spring. They are Andover resident Mark Merville; Blairstown resident Maria Sciarrino; Budd Lake resident Majida Musanovic; Hackettstown residents Shana Hebert, Jennifer Malise, Cody Reanu and Angela Sparandera; Highland Lakes resident Christian Orihuela; Hopatcong residents Jennifer Damiano and Meghan Tobin; Lake Hopatcong resident Craig Nudelman; Newton residents Bryant Hatch, Dawn Machacek and Anna Phillips; Oak Ridge residents Emily Harvin and Chase Kruppo; Sparta residents Joseph DeLuca, David Mombert and James Vellkamp; and Vernon resident Douglas Bookholt. Sparta resident Stephanie Elizabeth Molina graduated with a bachelor’ degree, summa cum laude from Gettysburg College in Pennsylvania. Four area residents graduated with bachelor’s degrees from Seton Hall University in South Orange. They are: Jason John Lami and Courtney Lynn Laner of Sparta; Courtney Lynn Laner of Sparta; Jessica L. Arnold of Wantage; and Michael Brian Dassatti of Sussex. Miles Cartwright of Sparta was named to the dean’s list for the spring 2009 quarter at the Savannah College of Art and Design in Savannah, Ga. Three area students were named to the dean’s honor list for the spring 2009 semester at Gettysburg College in Pennsylvania. They are: Stephanie Elizabeth Molina of Sparta; Steven Richard Kreuder of Stanhope; and Aimee Alana Griffin of Sussex. Newton resident Michelle Bourque and Daniel Jodexnis of Andover were named to the dean’s list for the spring 2009 at Roger Williams University in Bristol, R.I. Sparta resident Amanda Morrison graduated from the State of University of New York School of Environmental Sciences in Syracuse, N.Y., with a degree in environmental studies. She is currently hiking the 2,600 mile pacific crest trail from Mexico to Canada. Nine area residents were named to the dean’s list for the spring 2009 semester at Seton Hall University in South Orange. They are: Stanhope resident Alexandra Bowman Cumella; Jessica L.Arnold of Wantage; Samantha Elizabeth Desmond of Glenwood; Ryan Francis Garrity of Vernon; Robert Granzen of Glenwood; Sparta residents Markus W. Fischbach, Patrick J. Horan, Era C. Murzaku, and David Andrew Rind. Sparta resident Amanda J. Robinson was recently inducted into Alpha Lambda Delta freshman honor society at Susquehanna University in Selinsgrove, Pa. The purpose of this national honor society for freshmen is to encourage superior scholastic achievement among students during their first year in institutions of higher education; to promote intelligent living and a continued high standard of learning; and to assist students in recognizing and developing meaningful goals for their roles in society. Jennifer Carey of Byram has been named to the dean’s list for the spring 2009 semester at Colgate University. She is double majoring in political science and economics. Jeff Gottlieb, a 2007 Sparta High School graduate, has been named to the dean’s list at Tufts University every semester. Gottlieb has performed in many shows as a drama major and sings in the Select Choir which traveled to San Juan, P.R. to perform. In August, Gottlieb will be working as an intern for Paul Lucas Productions at the Fringe Festival, the largest performing arts festival in the world, in Edinburgh, Scotland. He was accepted to attend the British American Drama Academy (BADA) London Theatre Program as his study abroad for the fall 2009 semester. Ryan Schwester of Newton graduated with a bachelor’s degree from the State University of New York at Albany. Amanda Beneat of Sparta has received a Mood Scholarship to attend Southwestern University in Georgetown, Texas this fall. Mood Scholarships are merit scholarships of between $10,500 and $17,000 a year. Lindsay Fernandez of Lake Mohawk, Sparta, has been named to the spring 2009 dean’s list at Rutgers University in New Brunswick. A 2007 graduate of Sparta High School, she is a junior majoring in accounting. Five area students were named to the dean’s list for the spring 2009 semester at Sacred Heart University in Fairfield, Conn. They are: Tyler Mefford of Hamburg; Newton residents Heather Graham, Tara Lavecchia and Alexandra Simeone; and Sarah Mugavero of Stockholm. Stanhope resident Megan Cicchetti, a student at Fairleigh Dickinson University, was recently awarded a $4,500 accounting scholarship from the New Jersey Society of Certified Public Accountants (NJSCPA) in memory of Frederick and Lenore Horn. The scholarship is part of the NJSCPA’s annual scholarship program, which awarded more than $420,000 this year to 89 students statewide. The scholarship was presented at the 49th Annual NJSCPA Scholarship Awards Ceremony in April. Kenneth Hanley of Vernon has been named to the dean’s list for spring 2009 semester at Montclair State University. He is majoring in filmmaking.
