Frank Klump, of Sparta, as named to the fall 2009 dean’s list in the Stillman School of Business at Seton Hall University. He is a sport management major. Sarah Leslie Fletcher, a 2009 Sparta High School graduate, was named to the fall 2009 dean’s list at James Madison University, in Harrisonburg, Va. Baylea Sperring, of Sparta, was named to the fall 2009 president’s honor roll at Oklahoma State University. She is doing her undergraduate degree in secondary education/history and her masters in special education. Raleigh Sperring, of Sparta, was named to the fall 2009 dean’s honors list at the University of Pittsburgh. Sparta resident Monica Stegman spent the fall 2009 semester on Cape Cod slogging through wind-whipped salt marshes filled with brackish water and sulferous mud as part of a group of 16 students from across the country participating in the Semester in Science (SES) at the Marine Biology Laboratory (MBL) in Woods Hole, Mass. For her project, Stegman focused on the effectiveness of anti-fouling paints, which are used on the hulls of boats, piers and docks to prevent organisms such as barnacles and sea squirts from inhabiting them. She is a student at Haverford College. The following local students were named to the fall 2009 honor’s list at Fairleigh Dickinson University’s College at Florham, in Madison: Kyle Molitoris of Andover; Joseph DeLuca , Zachery Greco, Michael Roche, Karina Rodriguez and Colby Thompson, of Sparta; Shireen Akbar, Megan Cicchetti, Jesse Czubkowski and Genevieve Pilat, of Stanhope The following local students were named to the fall 2009 dean’s list at Fairleigh Dickinson University’s College at Florham, in Madison: Mark Melville of Andover; Kayla Kays, David Mombert and Ashley Santos, of Sparta; Richard Gathen of Stanhope. Christine M. Pierson of Hopatcong was named to the dean’s list for the fall 2009 semester at Siena College in Loudonville, N.Y. A group of area students who attend the University of Delaware were named to the dean’s list for the fall 2009 semester. They are: Brittany Boyle and Chelsea Martz of Andover; Michael Bourne of Blairstown: Ryan Fedewitz, Alicia Ferriere, Katherine Maier, Shannon Moore, Nicholas Pelligra, Kirsten Stout and Jamie Travis of Hackettstown; Marley Avondoglio, Jacob Hunt and Kristin Lovelace of Newton; Amanda Fioretti, Amanda Garger, Amanda Gomes, Ryan Helthall, Kristen Lewandowski, Christine Lummer and Kelly Raquet of Sparta; Samantha Gorman, Kelsey Gorman, Jillian Jacob and Marissa Ruocco of Stanhope. David Rind of Sparta has been named to the dean’s list for the fall 2009 semester at at Seton Hall University Jamie Travis of Hackettstown graduated in January from the University of Delaware at Newark. Five Sparta residents have recently been named to the dean’s list at Boston University for the fall 2009 semester. They are: Amy L. Bettano, Margaret A. Carbery, Nicolas C. Dahlberg, Melody A. Feo and Elizabeth A. Joseph. Gina Perscio of Sparta was named the recipient of College of Saint Elizabeth academic award in theology at the 21th annual Student Academic Leadership Awards Dinner. Students are nominated by the faculty and given to students for academic excellence, leadership and service to the community. Perscio a was the leader of the Supplemental Instruction study group for experimental psychology and was a tutor for introductory psychology and theology classes. She was also the president of Commuter Council last year and was secretary in her sophomore year. Off campus Perscio had an internship with Family Services of Morris County which was an outreach program for military families. Her current internship is with Friends of the Blind Program. There she provides social visits and companionship to visually impaired clients, provides information about other programs and opportunities for the elderly, and distributes l aids such as talking watches and large printed calendars. Janine Cowell of Sparta graduated with a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, magna cum laude, from Virigina Tech in Blackburg, Va. Jenkin Lee of Sparta was named to the dean’s list for the fall 2009 semester at Babson College in Wellesley, Mass.
