Centenary College students win honors at horse show tournament

    Hackettstown - Centenary College recently won first and second place at the Intercollegiate Horse Show Association Tournament of Champions, defeating 26 other teams. Additionally, Lindsey Mohr placed fourth in the medal class out of 38 riders, the highest class that competes at horse shows. Individual results were: First Place Team Lindsey Mohr - 1 Place Open Fences Colin Savaria - Open Flat Sami Davis - 1 Place Intermediate Fences Brittany Cunnane - 3 Intermediate Flat Julie Connors - 1 Novice Fences Candice Schober - 1 Novice Flat Emily Hawley - 1 Walk/Trot/Canter Jen Washel - 3 Walk/Trot Second Place Team Lindsay Clark - 1 Open Fences Kelly Arvidson- 8 Open Flat Sam Whitley - Intermediate Fences Ellen Rauchbach - 8 Intermediate Flat Ali Krecker - 3 Novice Fences Jessica Pabst - 1 Novice Flat Debbie Smith - 2 Walk/Trot/Canter Beth Jonas - 5 Walk/Trot The tournament was established in 1967 with the purpose of promoting competition for riding of any skill level regardless of financial status. Students compete individually and as team members at both regional, zone and national levels. The association is a recognized member of the U.S. Equestrian Federation and the American Quarter Horse Association. Horseback riding at Centenary College began as a club sport in the 1950s. Since 1984, Centenary has awarded associate of science and bachelor of science degrees in equine studies.
