Ambuter appointed piano accompanist for conservatory

Vernon Cherwyn Ambuter of Vernon was recently appointed piano accompanist for the New Jersey Conservatory’s adult choral ensembles: the Symphonic Chorus and the Chamber Choir. Previously, she had served the NJ Conservatory for two years accompanying in their children’s choir program. The conservatory is a community music organization led by founder Edwin Foster, comprising the two adult choirs, an international touring choir, a preparatory division offering instruction in piano, voice and music theory, five youth/children choruses and a symphony orchestra and Baroque orchestra. Ambuter earned a bachelor’s degree in music from Tufts University and an master’s degree in piano performance with sub-concentrations in choral conducting from the College-Conservatory of Music in Cincinnati. Her career has encompassed chamber music collaboration with musicians from the Cleveland Orchestra and Cleveland Opera Chorus. She also serves as the adult choir director and organist at Calvary Baptist Church in Warwick, N.Y., and sings and leads sectional rehearsals in the Community Choral Society, located in Vernon. In addition, Ambuter plays background piano for parties and weddings, and joins her harpist daughter Chanah as The Ambuter Duo. She will re-launch a piano studio out of her home this September.
