Allen makes it to the top
Sparta High school student Gregory Allen was named Sparta’s New Jersey’s Governor’s School Scholar for 2010. New Jersey Governor’s Schools recognize outstanding high school students who have demonstrated leadership and talent in and out of the classroom. Students have to pass several highly selective stages of competition at the school and state level to be chosen. Decisions are based on the student’s high school transcript and class rank, essays, letters of recommendation, extracurricular activities, community service, academic and extracurricular honors and accomplishments and standardized test results. Greg will spend four weeks of the summer at the Governor’s School of Engineering and Technology which is being hosted by Rutgers University. He will gain hands-on experience in research and work on challenging and open-ended problems with others who share their love for engineering and technology.
