Youth symphony to open 2005 season
The Skylands Youth Symphony will begin the 2005 performing season with its 7th annual Winter Concert, 2 p.m., Sunday, Jan. 16, at the Warwick Reformed Church. Tickets are $10 for adults; $8 for seniors and students; and children under 10 are admitted free. Tickets will be available at the door. In case of inclement weather, the concert will be rescheduled Sunday, Jan. 23. The full orchestra performance will include themes from recent motion pictures and longtime favorite Broadway shows. The chamber orchestra will perform a repertoire of motion picture themes and compositions by contemporary composers. Gould is a graduate of the College of Saint Rose and Central Connecticut State University, where she earned a master's in music education. She has performed with the Orange County Music Educators Orchestra, The Greater Newburgh Symphony Orchestra, and on numerous freelance projects. She is a private violin teacher and a music educator in Warwick. The Skylands Youth Symphony is open to musicians in Sussex County, New Jersey, and Orange County, New York, from 9-18-years-old who have studied music for at least two years on their instrument and can read music. An audition is required. The symphony also offers music theory classes, music workshops, symphony trips, and scholarships.
