Youth symphony in spring concert
Vernon The Skylands Youth Symphony will conclude its 2009-2010 series a Spring Concert at 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, May 23, at Glenwood Baptist Church, Route 565, in Vernon. Tickets are $10 for adults, $8 for seniors and students, and free for children under 10. Tickets will be available at the door. Skylands Youth Symphony is under the direction of Keely Gould, now in her seventh season leading the symphony. The symphony is made up of musicians who range from 9 and 18 years old. The group is open to young musicians in the region of Sussex County and Orange County, N.Y. To be eligible, a youngster must have studied music for at least two years on a stringed instrument and must be able to read music. An audition is required. In addition to performing concerts, the symphony has offered music theory classes, workshops, symphony trips and scholarships.
