Hardyston — The Sussex County YMCA will hold its Yoga Day USA event on Sunday, Jan. 24 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Families and individuals, from beginners to experienced practitioners, are invited to take part in this national celebration that will include special classes, one-on-one consultations with YMCA yoga instructors, healthy refreshments, children’s crafts, yoga merchandise for purchase and more. “Our hope for this day is to introduce more people to the beauty of yoga, especially families,” said YMCA yoga coordinator Angela Miller. “Yoga benefits all who choose to step on the mat. It’s a practice designed for every body and a holistic approach to wellness. Young and old can get the same benefits including relaxation, flexibility, better posture, core strength and focus.” To get the event flowing, the first class is Vinyasa Yoga, from 11 to 11:45 a.m. From noon to 12:45 p.m. there will be a special Aqua Yoga class in the YMCA’s large, heated indoor pool. From 1 to 1:45 p.m. there will be a special Chair Yoga class. From 2 to 2:45 p.m., Family Yoga will be featured where Miller encourages participants to “embrace your inner child while connecting with your own child in this kid-friendly class designed for some quality, fun family time.” Following that is Partner Yoga from 3 to 3:45 p.m. Partners of any combination will learn the benefits of an assisted stretch yoga practice. Concluding the day will be a special Yoga for Meditation class from 4 to 4:45 p.m. Pre-registration is recommended. Price per class is $5 for YMCA members and $8 for non-members. For those who wish to spend the whole day, the YMCA is offering an unlimited day pass for all classes for $20. The YMCA’s Child Watch daycare will be available for members only.
