Wildlife refuge will host family event

    Vernon — The Friends of the Wallkill River Refuge will present Refuge Day, on Sunday, Sept. 27, from 1 to 5 p.m., at the Refuge Headquarters, at 1547 County Route 565, in Vernon. The event is free, though donations are appreciated. In celebration of National Wildlife Refuge Week, the event will include the following activities: guided hikes, guided kayak and canoe trips, children’s games and activities, live birds, archery, bat cave, orienteering, mushroom walk, and search and rescue.
