NEWTON - Sussex County Community College will present “Oklahoma!” at its Performing Arts Center on Friday, Dec. 4 at 8 p.m.; Saturday, Dec. 5 at 2 and 8 p.m.; and Sunday, Dec. 6 at 2 and 7 p.m. Directed by the college’s Assistant Professor Stella Trikouros, the musical is based on Lynn Riggs’ 1931 play, “Green Grow the Lilacs” and also features original dances by Agnes DeMille. Rodgers & Hammerstein’s first collaboration is set in a Western Indian territory just after the turn of the century. The high-spirited rivalry between the local farmers and cowboys provides the background against which a cowboy and a farm girl play out their love story. Tickets are $5 to $15 and can be purchased by calling 973-300-3171 or visiting www.sussex.edu.
