Vernon — The Vernon Township Historical Society is sponsoring a holiday house tour on Dec. 13, featuring a holiday reception at the Vernon Senior Citizens center, followed by a tour of four homes decorated for the holidays. This year’s house tour also features the historic Drew farmhouse on Drew Road. Three of the four homes featured this year have not been on the Society’s prior holiday house tours. Tickets will be sold starting at noon on Dec. 13 at the Senior Citizens Center on Church Street, where there will also be holiday music, refreshments, and photographic exhibits of historic homes in the township. Tickets are at the reduced rate of $20 per person this year. For senior citizens or for groups of 10 or more, tickets are $15 each. The holiday house tour is from 1 to 6 p.m. After purchasing tickets, participants may go to the four homes at their own leisure, starting at the home of their choice. Refreshments are served and each home will be decorated inside and out. For more information, call 973-764-8554 or check the Society’s Web site at www.vernonhistoricalsociety.com on the “Coming Events” page. The Vernon Township Historical Society is a non-profit group. All proceeds will go toward ongoing programs to preserve and interpret Vernon’s history.
