Set for Friday, July 24, 7:30-9:30 p.m. Ringwood - Maligned and misunderstood for years, the humble bat is, in truth, a fascinating and beneficial member of society. This program, presented by researcher Dr. Lance Risley, of William Patterson University, begins indoors with a PowerPoint slideshow on bats, their adaptations, and their many good habits. Then, participants will venture outdoors to look for and listen to neighborhood bats with special help from an electronic bat detector. Interested youth are welcomed. The cost of the “Turning Bat Habitats into Good” is $8 per person, with a $3 discount for members of the Audubon Society. Pre-registration is required. To register by mail, send your name, address, phone number, the number of participants and payment to: NJAS’ Weis Ecology Center, 150 Snake Den Road, Ringwood, NJ 07456.
