Tri-State Actors Theater announces auditions for summer training program

Tri-State Actors Theater will hold company auditions for its 2014 Summer Intern Training Program on Saturdays, May 3 through June 7.

Tri-State Actors Theater has trained hundreds of students who are interested in learning the art of theater and performing, since its first season in the summer of 1989. This summer’s Family Production is the Gilbert & Sullivan musical, "The Pirates Of Penzance."

Auditions for TAT’s 27th Summer Season, under the direction of Tri-State’s Artistic Director and Founder, Paul Meacham, are open to students, ages 13 through 18; appointments are not necessary. Auditioners will be asked to read selected characters from the script and sing a simple tune. Head shots and resume will be accepted, but are not required. All auditions will be held from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m. at the Performing Arts Center, Sussex County Community College, Newton, N.J.

The Intern Program begins July 7, with three weeks of rehearsals, from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m., Monday through Friday. Production dates for "The Pirates Of Penzance" are July 30 through Aug. 9. All rehearsals and performances will be at Sussex County Community College, Newton.

Interns must be available for all rehearsals and performances. There is a $200 non-refundable registration fee for the program. Past season production’s include "The Wind in the Willows," "Winnie the Pooh," "Jungle Book," "Hey," "Ho Pinocchio," "Charlotte’s Web," "Stuart Little," and many others.
