The Jeweler’s Journey: From the Bench to the Body and Beyond

LAYTON — Peters Valley School of Craft announces a new metals exhibition, curated by Fine Metalsmith Kristal Romano and Sally D. Francisco Gallery Director Brienne Rosner, titled "The Jeweler’s Journey: From the Bench to the Body and Beyond" in the Sally D. Francisco Gallery from April 11 through May 17.

An Opening Reception will be held April 11 from 5 to 7 p.m. with a Gallery Talk at 5:30 p.m.

This exhibition embraces the questioning of how we define contemporary jewelry. The work on display challenges ideas about scale, presentation and context, pushing the boundaries of jewelry into the sculptural realm and beyond the traditionally viewed forms of earrings, brooch, necklace, ring and bracelet. While the pieces included in the exhibition may be viewed on or off the body they take on another purpose as standalone sculptures.

Participating artists are: Bifei Cao, Gabriel Craig, Jennifer Crupi, Marilyn da Silva, Nathan Dube, Teresa Faris, Jill Baker Gower, Becky McDonah, Gary Schott, Biba Schutz, Lauren Tickle, and Renee Zettle-Sterling.

Peters Valley School of Craft is a non-profit educational center for the exploration, promotion and practice of the craft arts, located in the Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area.
