Sustainable West Milford seeks volunteers, alternative fuel vehicles for GreenFest 2010
West Milford Sustainable West Milford’s third annual Highlands GreenFest is scheduled to take place on Saturday, May 22, 2010 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Bubbling Springs Park in West Milford. This regional eco-festival educates attendees on how to “Live, Protect & Enjoy” a greener and more sustainable lifestyle while connecting them with resources that help them to do so. The Highlands GreenFest features sustainable living demonstrations, children’s activities, local organic fare and a fantastic line-up of live local music throughout the day. Over 75 exhibitors offering goods and services including green building, alternative energy and transportation, eco-friendly landscaping, and sustainable living goods as well as outdoor recreation and environmental groups are expected to be on hand with an anticipated 2,000 people in attendance. The committee is in need of volunteers to help the day of the festival as well as on some pre-festival work days. Volunteers who sign up to help for at least four hours will receive a tie-dyed GreenFest volunteer T-shirt. To sign up as a volunteer, please email our volunteer coordinator, Triscia Hennessy at hifiwoman@yahoo.com. One of the goals of the event is to educate attendees about alternative fuel vehicles and what’s on the horizon in transportation. To that end, the committee is still seeking individuals, clubs and car dealers who own, drive and sell alternative fuel vehicles to bring them to the Highlands GreenFest for display and demonstration. If you are interested in participating at this level, please contact the festival coordinator, Suzie Blodgett, at suzie@greenelementsco.com.
