St. Patrick's Day parade

The St. Patrick’s Day parade in Sussex County became a tradition in 2004. It was begun by Dennis and Mary Harrington of Franklin, who now oversee the Sussex County St. Patrick’s Day Parade Committee, Inc., a 501c3 non profit group. Mark Hontz, an attorney in Newton, was the Master of Ceremonies this year. The 2009 Grand Marshall was Rev. Msgr. Kieran McHugh, who is principal of Pope John Regional High School in Sparta. Bands, schools, fire departments, Cub Scouts and Girl Scouts and numerous other groups participated.
