Skylands Fest will feature music, arts

    Knowlton Township — The Skylands Music & Arts Festival is set for Friday, Aug. 14 through Sunday, Aug. 16 at Hundter’s Lodge Field on Route 46 in Delaware. The three-day festival, hosted by Knowlton Township, is being held in the same location and on the same weekend as the former Knowlton Riverfest, Among the featured acts scheduled for the weekend are Robben Ford, Brave Combo, Gandalf Murphy, Tony Vacca, Rowan Brothers, Swampadelica, Quimby Mountain Band, Hector Del Curto & Eternal Tango, The McDades, The Booglerizers, Magbana Dance & Drum and Professor Louie & The Cromatix. Appearing on the Warren County Cultural & Heritage Commission Acoustic Stage is a lineup of all new Knowlton performers. They include former American Idol Stephanie White with Rob LaFalce, HelenaMaria, Sarah Donner, Tim Harakil, Spook Handy, Elastic Pyramid, Odarka, and the Pfeiffer Twins. On Sunday, students from the Warren County Community College creative writing program will once again entertain festival-goers with poetry readings. Hosted by poet BJ Ward, a professor at the college, readers include Sean O’Connor, Austin Eisele, Kristen Heacock, and Alison Stewart. A new addition to the festival weekend is the “Exposed” Battle of the Bands on Friday afternoon, sponsored in part by the Exposed entertainment section of the Easton Express-Times. Several bands from Pennsylvania and New Jersey will play before judges and vie for a prime spot on the Saturday main stage schedule. The Battle begins at 1 p.m. with The B-Attitudes, and continues until about 4 p.m. with June Bloom, Liberal Smog, The Big 3, Medicine Head Rx, Gentlemen’s Club, and Survay Says. The Newton Memorial Hospital Kids Zone will have a science presentation, hooping lessons with Jessica Towle of Breathing Room Center, Kids Yoga with Judy Kiddoo, blow up games and other activities.
