Senior Day at fair will include big band music
Augusta Senior Day at the New Jersey State Fair will take place on Thursday, Aug. 6, from 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. in the Performing Arts Tent. Participants are invited to dance and listen to the music of the Big Band Era. Entertainers will include Noteworthy, and vocalists Jan Jorritsma and April Fisher. Plus, David Cross will offer dance lessons. The day includes a continental breakfast, door prizes, and informational exhibits of senior interest including promotional give-a-ways. This year, there will also be a food drive to help stock the Social Services Food Pantry. Seniors who donate a food item will be entered in a drawing to win a $50 Wal-Mart gift card. Nominees for the Sussex County Senior of the Year will be recognized and the award will be presented during the festivities. The event will culminate with the presentation of Sussex County Skylands Ride’s Bus Driver Safety awards. Senior Day is presented by the Sussex County Division of Senior Services, and sponsored by Bristol Glen, Iliff-Ruggiero Funeral Home and Newton Memorial Hospital Auxiliary.
