Roundtable topic: How Confederate women lived

    Newton — The Colonel Henry Ryerson Civil War Round Table will hold a meeting at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, April 20, at Sussex County Community College. Dressed in period attire, special guest Rhonda Florian, from New Jersey’s Isaac W. K. Handy Chapter 2658 of the United Daughters of the Confederacy, will reveal how Southern women really lived during the War Between the States. Florian will describe how Southern women met the challenges of war in their own back yards. Topics covered are patriotism and war work, nursing the soldiers, food shortages and starvation, physical danger, refugees, and smugglers and spies.
