Romance writers will reveal publishing secrets

NEWTON — Romance writers Lisa Dale, Mickie Flagg And Sandy Nicks will talk to writers of all levels at the Marketing Meetings for Writers on Tuesday, Feb. 9, from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Sussex County Arts & Heritage Council. Dale grew up in northwestern New Jersey and holds an MFA in fiction from Fairleigh Dickinson University. She is a nominee for Best New American Voices and the Pushcart Prize, and her writing has appeared in numerous literary magazines. Her most recently published novels are “It Happened One Night” and “Simple Wishes.” Flagg earned a BA in Music Education, an MA in teaching, and studied acting in London. She has served as an adjunct professor at William Paterson University and was named a Distinguished Music Educator at the Yale University Music Symposium 2009. “Retribution!” is book one of The Champion Chronicles, with “Consequences and Inheritance” to follow. Sandy Nicks lives close to the Jersey shore and edits the Web site, Cool Stuff 4 Writers, named one of the 101 Best Web Sites for Writers by Writer’s Digest Magazine. Her novels include “Circle of Eternity,” “Falling for Autumn” and “Crazy Days of Summer.” “Autumn” won first place in the 2008 Celtic Hearts Romance Writers Golden Claddaugh contest. This is the first in a series run by Marketing Meetings for Writers and hosted by the council. Two Sussex County writers organize the meetings. Facilitator Mary Jasch is the author of “Best Hikes with Dogs - New Jersey.” Co-host Kathryn Ptacek is a long-time freelance writer with 21 published books. The cost for the meeting is $6.
