Ringwood — Ringwood Garden Club members attended the annual meeting of the Garden Club of New Jersey held recently in Bridgewater. Here, members Patricia Grossi, Jane Nielsen, Lois Robertson and Pamela Tokarczuk, president, are standing in front of the Blue Star Highway display which honors all service men and women who serve in the armed forces and is a living memorial to all veterans of World War II. The program was introduced by the New Jersey Council of Garden Clubs and picked up by the National Council of State Garden Clubs as the Blue Star Highway system covering thousands of miles across the United States, Alaska and Hawaii. A large metal Blue Star Memorial Highway marker is placed at appropriate locations along the highways throughout the country. The Blue Star became an icon in World War II and was seen on flags and banners in homes for sons and daughters away at war.
