Programs at county libraries
The following programs have been scheduled at Sussex County Libraries: Josefina Fiesta: An American Girl Party Put on your most colorful skirt, shawl or hat and come to the library to celebrate Josefina’s Fiesta. There will be snacks, a craft, authentic New Mexican recipes and a pi-ata game. The program is open to children ages 7 and up and registration is required. (Dress up is optional.) Main Library: Saturday, May 1, 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Great Artists in History Beginning with cavemen and ending with contemporary artist Chuck Close, this eight week series highlights a different artist each week. A good program for homeschoolers, but all students in kindergarten through 5th grade are welcome. Due to space limitations, separate registration for each week is required. Main Library: Thursdays, May 6, May 13, May 20, May 27, June 3, June 10, June 17 and June 24, 2 to 3 p.m. Parent/Child Workshop This interactive workshop is for parents/caregivers and their young children ages 1-3. During this special time, the library provides the setting in which parent and child can work and play together, while also introducing the parent to some of the many resources available to help them in the task of raising a toddler. Main Library: Fridays, May 7 and 14, 10 to 11 a.m. PJ Story Time Put the kids in their PJs (or not) and bring the family to the library for a bedtime story hour. Stay for the hour or whatever best fits your family’s bedtime routine. Open to children ages three and up and their caregivers. Registration is ongoing. Main Library: Tuesdays, May 11 and June 8, 7 to 8 p.m. Books on Ice at Skylands Kids in grades 4-6 are invited to meet the second Wednesday of every month at Skylands Ice World for a book discussion and activity followed by skating for half price. The book meeting starts at 6:15 p.m. followed by skating from 7:30 - 9:30 p.m. Call the Main Library at 973-948-3660 to register. Skylands Ice World: Wednesdays, May 12 and June 9, 6:15 to 9:30 p.m. Lap Sit Program A new session of songs, fingerplays and more for ages six months through two years and their siblings. Children must be accompanied by a caregiver. Program runs from 10 to 10:30 a.m. at all branches. Registration begins April 26.
