STOCKHOLM — The Rock Lodge Club, a family-friendly, cooperative nudist club in Stockholm will hold its annual open house this Saturday, June 5 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Admission includes a BBQ lunch, a tour of the club, its historic buildings and grounds. All club facilities will be available for visitors use. The event is open to everyone, with a discounted rate for adults is $15 for the day. Children are free. Throughout the day, visitors can swim or boat in the spring-fed lake, play tennis, sauna, and sun on the two beaches. There are play areas for children, and miles of marked hiking trails. Visitors should pack towels and sunblock. During the 1920s, the property was a training camp for Jack Dempsey and other boxers, and in 1932 it was established as a seasonal nudist club, which continues today. The grounds also feature one of New Jerseys unique historic buildings, the Stone House. It was built as a model fireproof farmhouse in 1907 by architect Abraham Lincoln Himmelwright, a chief engineer for the Roebling Construction Co., builders of the Brooklyn Bridge. Rock Lodge Club sits on 145 acres of woodlands in the New Jersey Highlands, 50 miles outside of New York City. Rain date is Saturday, June 12.
