West Milford — If you are interested in antique and classic cars and aircraft, the Greenwood Lake Airport is the place to be this Saturday and Sunday, rain or shine. That’s when the first-ever Cruisin & Flyin Music Festival is taking place. Come see some of the neatest and most amazing cars and planes, including the 8270 B/GS Streamliner Land Speed Car, which will be on display both days. The cars entered will be competing in nine different categories. Also on display are some amazing planes including the Lockheed Constellation which will be open to the public. If you are interested in music, come listen to some of the bands competing in the Battle of the Bands. Each day, different bands will compete for the $2,000 top daily prize. Look for the WRXP 101.9 FM Mobile Rock Lounge on site playing music and handing out prizes. There will be vendors, great food and lots of activities for children as well as adults. This outdoor event is not an air show, but a display. There will be helicopter and bi-plane rides available though, so your feet don’t have to stay planted on the ground. Admission is $10 for adults and $5 for kids 5 to 12. This is not an air show; the planes are on display only. Last week, though, was a different story. There was much going on in the sky as well, as the Greenwood Lake International Aerobatic Club Chapter 52 hosted its first ever Jersey Skylands Aerobatic Championships. The three-day event saw some amazing flying and great fun on the ground too. “This local three-day event has pilots from all over the east coast competing, that are being judged by their peers and three judges,” said Stephen Seidel of Blairstown, N.J., the contest director. Seidel, a pilot since 1972, and an aerobatic pilot since 1993, also stated “after this they move on to the international level to show off their skills.” Chapter 52 of the IAC are an active group of aerobatic enthusiasts from Southeastern New York, Western Connecticut, North and Central New Jersey, and Eastern Pennsylvania. Their membership includes pilots, fans, folks interested in judging, and those who just like to help out and watch the show.
