The newest addition to “The Chicken Soup for the Soul” book series is “The Cancer Book,” which includes a poem written by Nisha Drummond, a local teen. The book’s release date is Tuesday, March 3. Drummond wrote the poem in 2005 when she was then 12 years old as an entry into the Sparta Library’s annual poetry contest. The poem, called, “The Numbers to Live by,” describes her experiences with leukemia treatment. Drummond will appear at the Sparta Book Shop to sign books on March 3 from 3 to 5 p.m. For each book sold that day, the shop will donate $2 to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.
