It is easy being green! Learn how at the Highlands GreenFest

    Kids activities are plentiful at the GreenFest West Milford — Sustainable West Milford’s third annual Highlands GreenFest is scheduled for this Saturday, May 22, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Bubbling Springs Park on Macopin Road in West Milford. Sustainable living demonstrations, children’s activities, local organic fare, a fantastic line-up of live local music throughout the day, and over 75 exhibitors promise a fun-filled day for all. Exhibitors will be offering goods and services including green building, alternative energy and transportation, eco-friendly landscaping, and sustainable living goods as well as outdoor recreation and environmental groups promise a fun filled day for all. The West Milford High School Green Team brings the Kids’ Zone to the festival. Throughout the day, children will enjoy fun and educational eco-games while meeting recycling characters. The Green Passport Challenge will have kids visiting booths to learn green facts while earning a chance to win prizes. Don’t miss the Snakes-n-Scales “The Strange World of Reptiles” show which takes place at 11:30 a.m. and again at 1:45 p.m. Andrea Powers Wellness Studio will be offering a children’s yoga class at 3 p.m. Mats will be available but please feel free to bring your own. Face painting by the Magic Cottage will be available throughout the day for a nominal fee. The West Milford Lions Club will be on hand collecting used eyeglasses, cell phones and ink cartridges for recycling. Pur2O will be offering free filtered water for your reusable container, so please bring your water bottle or purchase one at the festival and begin reducing plastic water bottle waste.
