WANTAGE — The Friends of High Point State Park will host an ice festival on Saturday, Jan. 31 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the park. The snow day is Feb. 1. Throughout the day, demonstrations of old-fashioned ice fishing will be given on Lake Marcia. Visitors will be able to warm up by the fireplace at the Interpretive Center and sip hot chocolate while learning about ice and snow at High Point. Weather permitting, other icy activities may include ice skating, a snowman building contest and making snowflakes. High Point is the coldest spot in New Jersey and ice has played an important role in the mountain’s story for thousands of years.
