‘Honk Jr.' cast collects money for animal shelter

    Lafayette — The cast of Cornerstone Playhouse’s “Honk Jr.” has partnered with Father John’s Animal House, in Lafayette, to raise money for the animal shelter. “Honk Jr.” is the story of “The Ugly Duckling” by Hans Christian Andersen, put to a lively score by George Styles, with lyrics and book by Anthony Drewe. The cast members have made their own banks and have collected monies from family and friends of all ages and will continue to collect donations during the intermissions of their performances. Over the past two years Cornerstone has joined forces with other local charities, including Ginnie’s House, the Sparta Ambulance Corps, Toys for Tots and Camp Nejeda. During the various charity drives they have collected over $4,000 to benefit these local charities. Cornerstone Playhouse’s production of “Honk Jr.” opens on Thursday, April 15 at 8 p.m., with additional performances on April 16 and 17 at 8 p.m., as well as matinees on April 17 at 3 p.m. and April 18 at 1:30 and 4:30 p.m. All performances are at the Lake Mohawk Country Club, located at 21 the Boardwalk, in Sparta.
