Hiking 101
Set for Saturday, Aug. 1,: from 10 to 12 pm Ringwood - Have you been thinking about getting into hiking or are you already a hiker and you want to know just little bit more? Whether you’re venturing into the woods for fitness, enjoyment, or just to get away from it all, this class is designed to teach you the basics of hiking. We’ll be covering local trail information, equipment you should have, and even how to use a compass! The cost of Hiking 101 is $8 per person, with a $3 discount for members of the New Jersey Audubon Society. Pre-registration is required as space is limited. Weis is recognized for its popular public programs for adults, kids, and families, with a specialization in full-day and residential environmental education programs for schools, scouts, and other youth and/or adult groups. Weis’ Visitors Center is open during business hours and houses their turtle, snakes, seasonal exhibits, as well as a NJAS Nature Store featuring field guides, bird feeders and accessories, kids’ stuff, regional trail maps, and more.
